Alcantara has unveiled the exclusive new artworks commissioned for the art exhibition “Unordinary Space”, currently taking place in Shanghai at the Aurora Museum until the end of February next year.
For this exhibition, curated by Davide Quadrio, Alcantara has invited two China-born artists, Yin Xiuzhen and Liu Shiyuan, together with Italian fashion designer Gentucca Bini, to conceive site-specific artworks employing Alcantara’s luxury material as an unparalleled versatile media.
Unordinary Space analyses the architectural and metaphorical environments that connect the Aurora Building, a landmark of the Shanghai skyline, to the annexed museum infrastructure designed by Tadao Ando. The exhibition is articulated in three chapters: the space as a container, the space as surface, and the space as digital platform.
